“2018 is the year of the supernatural!” Those were the stirring words of Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, moving people to cheer loudly in unison as they rang in 2018 with worship and song. Founder of Believer’s LoveWorld Inc., Pastor Chris Oyakhilome hosted LoveWorld’s New Year service on December 31st, 2017. For anyone who missed the event, video clips can be watched on “LoveWorld News.” The evening of events started with the song “So we Lift up Our Hands to Praise Your Name.” Following the song, Pastor Oyakhilome entered the stage with exclamations of praise and rejoiceing. The congregation rose up in joy and enthusiasm when he appeared; the atmosphere was electrifying and the crowd could not be calmed.
The key phrase of the evening was “A Year of Flourishing.” The hosts and Pastor Oyakhilome recounted the tremendous growth and productivity of Believer’s LoveWorld (also known as Christ Embassy) In 2017. The organization had extended the word of God through various ministries; they impacted communities through their Inner-city Mission and the Healing School, they trained many new ministers in their International School of Ministry, and they distributed 3.1 billion copies of “Rhapsody of Realities,” a book of daily devotionals designed to inspire and encourage its readers. Not only did Pastor Oyakhilome spread the word of God through his ministries, but also through television, radio and the internet.
The New Year event touched those who attended, and also those who watched from their televisions, computers, and mobile devices. It’s inspiring that so many people gathered together at one time, solely for the purpose of experiencing the glory of God.
Every year, Believer’s LoveWorld recognizes its young people by giving out FALAs (Future African Leaders Awards) to those who exhibit certain qualities. The star prize winner of the 2017 FALA was Naomi Ekpoki. She was ecstatic and, along with the other winners, fell to her knees on stage, overwhelmed by the award and the experience.
Martin PK, winner of the 2017 LIMA for “worship song of the year,” sang “Beautiful Jesus,” and Sinach, multiple award-winning, Nigerian worship leader, sang one of her beautiful songs. Many ministers and pastors came up on the stage to join Sinach and Pastor Oyakhilome in song.
The magnificent evening was concluded by Pastor Oyakhilome, with these words: “Oh father we thank you, we worship you, we honor you. Thank you for your love, for your grace, for your kindness. We worship you. Thank you for the year of flourishing, and our flourishing continues in the mighty and matchless name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!”
